Towards the end of June 2018,
two pairs of Technical Rescue Units entered service with Greater Manchester
Fire & Rescue Service. The main Unit was built on a Volvo
FE chassis by Rosenbaur.
Pictures of the Units based
at Ashton- under-Lyne are illustrated below. The other pair operate
from Leigh Fire Station. As
well as Rescue equipment for Road Traffic Collisions, a large amount
of equipment is carried in support
of Urban Search and Rescue. The Mercedes Sprinter vans carry further
USAR equipment, plus Rope Rescue and Water Rescue equipment and specialist
stretchers.
Normally the 2 units respond
together, though at Ashton, when required, the USAR specialist vehicle
can replace the Mercedes.
I am most grateful for the help
given with these pictures.
