The station itself still stands today, and appears to have been little touched since the brigade vacated it.  Most buildings of this type in Manchester seem to have been converted to Hotels, although the latest trend appears to be for more hotels in the suburbs rather than the City Centre.

I don't think PFI will ever build them like this!

I guess this was a unique line up of Albions in the yard at London Road.

Also at London Road for a time was Ford MND721P seen at an incident in the City in 1980/1.
It should be noted that the Fords were reallocated with great regularity.

PBU999M could best be described as a 'consequence' of 1974, in that it was
ordered by Oldham Fire Brigade, but being delivered after 1st April that year
it actually went on the run at London Road, Manchester instead.
When this picture was taken, it had moved to Gorton Fire Station.

Judging by the number in the window, TBA260R began as a Salvage Tender at London Road.
It continued in that role when it moved via Gorton to Hyde before being converted to a BAMMU.
