Manchester City Centre has witnessed countless major incidents throughout its history. Notable incidents include the Woolworth's fire in may 1979 in which 10 people lost their lives, and more recently, of course, there was the notorious bomb blast of June 1996, where mercifully no lives were lost. Below is an incident I photographed in 1973 in what was then more commonly known as Knott Mill, but now better known as Castlefields.
