15 TOXTETH
OFFICIAL OPENING
7 AUGUST, 2013.

I offer my sincere thanks to the Chief Fire Officer for his very kind invitation to the Official Opening of the new Toxteth Fire Station.

A selection of pictures from the event appears below.

The Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Dan Stephens welcomed invited guests before introducing Mr. Kieran Timmins.

Mr. Timmins, the Deputy Chief Executive gave some background to the project including FireFit.

He then went on to officially open the new Fire Station.

Guests were then given a tour of the new premises and a selection of pictures is given below.

This super feature shows many of the commendations given to the various watches a Toxteth over the years.
At each side of the seat is one of the Keystones from the Liverpool Salvage Station on Vauxhall Road, detailed below.

Staff from the Heritage Centre attended with Dennis F8 EM5512 seen here leaving the fire station.
Sadly there won't be too many opportunities to see an F8 turn out from this station.

After the tour guests were treated to an R.T.C. Drill by the duty watch and colleagues from Liverpool Central Community Fire Station.   The scenario was that 2 vehicles had crashed head on, one vehicle had overturned and one casualty was trapped in each vehicle.  A selection of pictures is shown below.

Each casualty was quickly assessed.

Scania PN04KSF from Liverpool Central Community Fire Station.

The casualty in the overturned vehicle was pritority for release.

Cutting equipment arriving.

Meanwhile the occupant of the other vehicle also received attention.

Work began to remove the hatch door from the overturned vehicle...

...whilst cutting of the windscreen commenced on the other.

With the roof now removed, extrication of he first casulaty could soon begin.

That's a nasty gash on the left arm!

Extrication of the female casualty could then begin.

Protection was put around the casualty to avoid any injuries whilst the roof was removed. from the other vehicle.

All the cutting was completed and removal of the roof could begin.

Those head injuries look nasty!

In went the spinal board...

..and very soon the second casualty was released and taken to a place of safety.

My sincere thanks to the two 'casualties' for permission to use their pictures on this page.
