I offer my sincere thanks to the Chief Fire Officer for his very kind invitation to the Official Opening of the new Southport Fire & Ambulance Station.

Local School children had again designed a mosaic for the new station.

Special mention must be made of Mrs. Edna Jones, a regular attender at these events from the Heirtage Centre,
who died very suddenly a couple of weeks before this event. May she rest in peace.

The formal opening was conducted by Dame Lorna Muirhead, Lord Lieutenatnt of Merseyside.

After the formal proceedings members of the Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service at Southport along with Colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service demonstrated the rescue of 2 casualties from a roof-top.
