B3/A16/S11 SALE

Sale was another fire station that GMC acquired from Cheshire County in 1974.  Due to the large number of Chemical and Petrochemical Installations in the area, in addition to its two pumping appliances, Sale also operated a Foam Tender.

This line up was taken at the old Sale station, where the AFS appliance was from Altrincham/Macclesfield was based.

Dennis F12 STU514 from Sale was seen at a major fire at Ram Mill, Chadderton in 1968.
Behind is Lancashire Commer HY 350KTF from Newton-le-Willows, then Commer HY 346KTF from Rawtenstall
and AEC Regent Pump Escape EBN800 from Bolton County Borough.

Originally with Lancashire County at Eccles, Ford Foam Tanker LTC740K is believed to have moved here after its rebuild in 1977.

WBA544S had a comparatively short existence from 1977-1984.
It is pictured here in 1980 as part of the first Manchester Lord Mayor's Parade.

Sale's only allocated pair of Dennis RS appliances were EVM949T & EVM 950T of which the former was seen in the station yard.

After the 'T' registered Dennis RS appliances, two 'A' registered RSs were moved here from London Road.
These were replaced by Leyland Freighters G412RJA & G413RJA.

Leyland G412RJA subsequently became a 'limo' machine.  It was seen in Stockport 4 September 2005.

ERF Foam Tanker P331 FVR was seen at Leigh T.S.C., 18 March 2008.

Withdrawn and ready for disposal, P331FVR was again seen at Leigh T.S.C., 20 September 2010.

P331FVR was seen at the National Mining Museum near Wakefield, 31 October 2010.

Former Sale Volvo PN05EHH was converted to become a Community Vehicle.  With the paint barely dry, it was seen at Leigh TSC, 26 August 2022.
