HERITAGE & EDCUATION CENTRE
MERSEYSIDE H.Q.

OFFICIAL OPENING - 9 DECEMBER 2011

I am very grateful to the Management Team at Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service for the kind invitation to the Official  Opening of the Heritage & Education Centre at the back of Bridle Road.
Already a number of schools have booked to visit, and it is hoped that at least 2,000 children will visit in the first year.
Below are pictures from the opening ceremony, whilst on the next page there are pictures of some of the exhibits. Contact details will follow once the Centre is open to the public.

The Service Historian, Simon Ryan, welcomed guests.

We were treated to a short film of some of the larger fires in the area over the decades.

The Chief Fire Officer, Dan Stephens then addressed visitors, before moving to the centre itself.

The Chief Fire Officer unveiled the plaque.

After the unveiling guests were shown around the centre.

After the event, we all enjoyed an excellent buffet.

For some, it was a good opportunity to cacth up and reminisce.

Possibly the youngest guest of honour was Kate McCormack who was currently the Junior Lord Mayor of Liverpool.
