This incident began around 1643
on Sunday 31 December 2017 and was believed to have started in a Land Rover.
Ultimately, over 1,000 vehicles were destroyed. Appliances from Merseyside
were supported by appliances from Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Lancashire
FRS. Greater Manchester sent the HVPU with support pump from Bolton and
Lancashire sent the HVPU from Burnley with support pump. There were some
interesting standby movements with the Stinger from Blackburn at Southport,
a pump from Darwen standing by at Formby, and a pump from Hindley covering
Speke. There were also some interesting reliefs with the furthest travelled
appliance attending from Morecambe.
