This incident involved a former
power station on the Lune Industrial Estate iu Lancaster. As I prepared
this page over a week later, crews were still in attendance as they tried
to extinguish the blaze which apprently involved tonnes of rubbish. At
the outbreak of the incident, 10 pumps from Lancashire and Cumbria attended
the incident along with 2 Aerial Ladder Platforms, a Stinger, Command Units,
High Volume Pumps, Air Support Unit and SACUs from both Lancashire and
Greater Manchester. Since then, relief crews have attended from across
the County. The photos on this page are all copyright
to Jonathan Dixon who was a member of the
SACU team.
For my own part, I attended
later in the morning where I photographed appliances from Burnley, Lancaster
and Preston down on the Quayside in Lancaster. These were added to the
respective station pages.
Although, rightly, there was
no access anywhere near the incident, I was taken to a good vantage point
where I was able to create a short video
looking down on the incident, which gives some idea of the size of the
building involved.
PO56VGP was operating as a reserve appliance at Blackburn.
